Deputy Director – Home and Local Energy, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Richard Mellish is the Deputy Director responsible for Government’s fuel poverty strategy in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. Those responsibilities include delivery of home energy efficiency measures to make progress on the strategy and associated obligations on energy suppliers (the Energy Company Obligation and Warm Home Discount). Richard has experience of working in a number of different government departments. Previously he was in charge of the planning system for power stations and overhead lines. Earlier policy responsibilities have covered housing, rivers, construction and sustainable development.
